Ready to Live Better?
How do I want to live?
What do I want to do with my short time on earth?
We all must stop at different times to think about the answers to the above questions—pretty profoundly. Otherwise, you keep running in circles—not getting anywhere, just moving. I know because I have done just that.
I recently read two of Brad Stulberg’s books_, Master of Change_ and The Practice of Groundedness. They got me thinking. How much time was I spending in running mode (being busy) instead of moving with intention? In my case, it was most of the time for the last four months. I was busy from early morning till dark in motion, resulting in anxiety and stress, and not much else.
I know stress isn’t good for my health and overall aging well. Stress is connected to six leading causes of death:
· Heart disease
· Cancer
· Lung issues
· Accidents
· Cirrhosis of the liver
· Suicide
I co-wrote a book on healthy aging (still in publishing mode), yet it didn’t dawn on me.
But one day, I stopped. I want to say I had an epiphany. But no, external events caused me to pause and start to rethink life by really answering the two questions at the beginning of this post.
It’s time for a change! The path I was on was too stressful and caused me too much anxiety for many reasons outside of my control. And I needed to make changes in my control.
It was time to book a session with my life coach. Thank goodness I have a life coach—a trusted advisor who can hear me and help me get back on my path. If you don’t have one, I recommend you find one. You’ll sleep better at night and hopefully have less anxiety.
Now, I am back charting my path toward a new adventure and reducing the stress!
